Landscape photography is always fun because there isn’t one thing that your focused on, it’s everything. There are many different tools that photographers use to make those incredible photos but some seem to realize that lighting can be one of the more significant. I’m going to give you a couple of hints about what I’ve learned about landscape photography. One, taking a landscape photograph is much less intimidating than taking pictures of people. For me at least I feel more comfortable taking pictures of nature and specifically landscapes because well
for one I live in Colorado and the landscape/cityscapes are beautiful and the sunset/sunrise pictures you really can’t beat here!
Going back to what I’ve personally learned about landscape photography, lighting is key! I know everyone sees those great pictures of nature all of Instagram and Pinterest, in fact I have a few on my page which are absolutely fantastic check them out here! In any picture you take lighting is key because it can either help of hurt your overall photo.
I’ve taken many pictures in my day granted some better than others but I’ve found most of my best landscape photos come right out of a good
hiking session! Most of my hiking pictures are using direct light. Some like this to the top right is one of my favorites because it shows all the fall colors among the browning earth and the bright blue sky. This picture was taken in the middle of the day so there aren’t many shadows to play with here but still you get the full effect.
Both of these pictures to the left and right are great pictures to show here because not only is the sun fairly hidden you can see the storm rolling up behind the balloons. The bright colors of the balloons catches your attention against the gray sky. This is overcast light, as you can see there is a big difference from the other pictures above. I like overcast light because I think it makes your focus of the picture pop! These pictures below show reflective light and these are great as well I always have a great time taking landscape photos I can’t wait to show you other great photography hints and tips!
Here are just a few more of my favorite pictures! If you have some favorites you would like to share
